Jason Schreier recently made a new claim that assassin’s Creed Valhalla’s planned expansion was abandoned, instead launching it as an independent game. Ubisoft’s goal was to fill the gap between Assassin;s Creed Infinity and Valhalla. Codenamed The Rift, the game will bring secrecy to the forefront and will star Basim Ibn Ishaq, whom we know from Valhalla.
The decision to convert this expansion package into a game was made last year. Smaller than the series’ recent games (Odyssey and Valhalla), it will offer a more refined style that focuses more on privacy than a game set in the vast open world like the others.
Of course, these were just allegations, because there was no official statement from Ubisoft on this issue.
In the Q&A portion of Ubisoft’s latest financial results talks, an analyst asked Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot, “the new game in the series is said to be a smaller Assassin;s Creed game, do you have an explanation for this?”
“As for your question about the Rift, all we can say here is that we will not comment on this rumor. In October, we announced a strong roadmap for the coming years of the AC series and stated that we will deliver meaningful content for each year. So far, we are very happy with Valhalla’s performance,” said Yves Guillemot.
However, the person who asked the question did not say the name Rift. Guillemot’s “Rift” to the question confirmed that a game with this code name actually existed.
This new game will probably be announced in the coming period and the rumors will come true.
