In May 2017, Ubisoft renewed the Splinter Cell trademark, which it applied for splinter cell games, and made minor changes to its product list under this brand.
This renewal process, in which the phrase “interactive multi-platform computer games” in the trademark description is replaced by “providing online computer games”, is also a sign that something will be done about this brand soon.
It’s no longer a secret that Ubisoft is working on the new Splinter Cell game, with news broke last October that the studio had approved a new Splinter Cell game from the main series. This game is very valuable in a way, because fans of the series are tired of receiving mobile and VR game news under the Splinter Cell brand. Ubisoft wants to win back these fans, and the way to do that is through the new main series game.
Jeff Grubb said the game was inspired by IO Interactive’s Hitman series. The game is currently in the early stages of development.
