Ubisoft is increasing its focus on free-to-play games.
Launching 3-4 premium AAA games each year no longer accurately reflects Ubisoft’s value creation dynamics, according to Frederick Duguet, the company’s chief financial officer.
Ubisoft will still release 3-4 premium AAA games every year, but we’ll also see a lot of free-to-play games.
The firm sees great potential in free-to-play games and is a financial decision. Frederick Duguet underlined that they have no intention of raising money with low-budget jobs and said that high-quality free-to-play games are in development.
Free-to-play games are planned for all the major series they have.
Recently announced for free-to-play The Division: Heartland consoles and PC. It will debut in 2021 or 2022.
