Developed by Chaos Concept in 2007, UFO: Extraterrestrials was described as a spiritual sequel to X-COM: UFO Defense and was widely admired by gamers. The game is set on the planet Esperanza, where humans colonize, and at the beginning of the game the alien threat was just coming to the planet.
In 2010, a sequel to UFO: Extraterrestrials was announced. I was told the game would be released towards the end of the year. By the end of 2010, we saw that the game had not come out, and the statement afterwards was that it had been postponed until early 2012. After that, there was little news of the game, and five years ago they posted a few concept videos, that’s all.
That game was officially released on Steam after an 11-year delay 🙂
It has a high price tag for an X-COM clone, the price in Turkey is 57 lira. Considering that X-COM Enemy Unknown; sold for 12.25 liras, X-COM 2 for 54.75 liras, and the latest X-COM: Chimera Squad for 49 liras, they put even an expensive price on the game from the main and side X-COM games. The overseas sales price is 35$ / 30€.
When a Steam user asked why the game was so late, its developer replied, “MONEY?”
