An unopened, yet-to-be-unveiled super mario 64 copy has found a buyer for $1.56 million, making it the most expensive game ever sold.
If you recall, the other day we announced another auction, the extremely rare, gelatinous game of 1987’s The Legend of Zelda, which was auctioned at $110,000 four days earlier, and at the end of the auction it set a record by finding a buyer for exactly $870,000. The Legend of Zelda’s record was short-lived, super mario 64; in 1996, A.B.D.; His copy, The Legend of Zelda, which was published and stored in perfect condition (9.8 points) in its unopened box, almost doubled, setting an extremely difficult record to break.
Also by Heritage Auctions, a Super Mario 64 with a score of 9.6 on the same day sold for $13,200. So the small difference is that it generated a price increase of almost $1.5 million. It’s really amazing. A 9.8-copy of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time previously sold for $870,000.
This Super Mario 64, which has found a buyer for a record price, is thought to go on sale again in the coming years.
