Uragun, a science fiction action shooter set in a futuristic world and attracting attention with its isometric camera angle, returns to the Roguelike genre. According to the statement made by the company, Uragun, which is based on Mech wars and has been in early access in recent months, is making a significant change in its style to increase its replayability. The explanation and details of the game are as follows;
Uragun gets Roguelike gameplay
For Uragun, who currently has a 92% positive review on Steam, players have hinted at a deeper and more replayable mechanic, even though they enjoy the hard and satisfying challenge. Kool2Play, which has been planning a similar change in itself for a while, has started working on a new version of Uragun with this feedback.
Everything players praise about Uragun will remain the same: smooth top-down shooter enjoyment, challenging yet balanced encounters, stunning environments, and hilarious AI chat. So what will change in the game?
- Permadeath. When the player’s Mech is destroyed, he will have to start a completely new game. Most of the collected items (weapons, modes, expansion cartridges, etc.) will be lost.
- Random world map. Players will always face a different set of missions and rewards. After each defeat, the evil artificial intelligence will restructure travel routes, so that the journey in the same region will always have a different experience.
- Lasting progress. Although many items will be lost after death, there will be a skill tree for the player to spend the permanent resources they can find in each game session and increase their chances against hordes of machines. This will help players to master the battles in their Uragun.
- Revamped character build system. To adapt to the new structure, as well as to make the game deeper and more fun, the studio will expand the types of equipment that can be collected so that players can create more varied and deadly builds for their Mech.
But the new roguelike structure isn’t the only thing the team is working on. Kool2Play has been working on Uragun since its Early Access launch – doing some technical infrastructure work, such as updating the engine and addressing aspects that should significantly improve the game’s performance in the future. In addition, a lot of new content is under construction and will be added to the game with the next update.
- New area: Nairobi’s Underground. The capital of Kenya has become a hyper-advanced technological metropolis. Beneath its increasingly less habitable surface due to the climate crisis, a maze of endless tunnels and facilities has been built.
The journey of our Mech will take us to this region that was once the home of a revolution and then turned into a hiding place for resistance to the corruption of artificial intelligence. But plugins won’t be limited to just visuals. Nairobi’s underground city will feature new types of enemies with patterns of attack and movement not seen in other areas. The shape and size of the arenas will also vary to support the game.
