Valorant voice chat recordings will begin recording in North America starting July 13 with a new system developed by Riot. Riot says this method will make it easier to deal with “inappropriate behavior.” The company described the move as “a move to combat players who exhibit inappropriate behavior.” Riot has also updated its user agreement to require players to consent to the recording of their voice conversations.
Valorant voice chat recordings will be on Riot’s radar
Riot said in a post that these audio recordings “will only be reviewed if negative behavior is reported.” In addition, the company plans to spread this system to all its games if it is tested in Valorant and a positive result is obtained.
Riot has stated that the audio conversations to be recorded at this stage will not be used for the reporting of the players, but will only be a testing process. The firm wants to make sure it works properly before rolling out the system to all of its games. Riot stressed that the audio conversations will prove whether the alleged inappropriate behavior has taken place, and when a player objects, they will allow them to clearly explain why the penalty was imposed. For now, the system will record English conversations in North America.
Still, if I were a Valorant player, I’d be uncomfortable thinking that even audio conversations are being tracked. The Valorant parade event started recently.
