Valve is very ambitious about steam deck! The firm said it had reached or even exceeded the 30 FPS threshold in all games where the device’s hardware was tested. With the Switch-style device, announced by Valve on July 15th, players will be able to move games from Steam libraries wherever they want and play them.
Valve is very hopeful about the potential of steam deck
In an interview with IGN, the designers and software developers of Steam Deck said that the development and trial of the device has been going on for many years, claiming that the final result may surprise some players.
“We’ve had a lot of eyeballs on games that have come out in the past years during the development process,” says Pierre-Loup Griffais, one of the device’s developers. Griffaic added, “But our biggest test has been the games this year. The old prototype and device architecture we used during the trial process had difficulty running more up-to-date games.”
Valve is confident that the performance of the latest version of the Steam Deck is much better than previous versions and that the device will easily run all the games that will be tried from now on. In fact, it is stated that the company’s “30 FPS” target is not an upper limit, but rather a lower limit. Griffais claimed in a Twitter post that the 30 FPS emphasis was made for the lower limit, and that in tests so far, the device has mostly exceeded that limit.
