Sony announced that it will bring Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) support for the next generation of PlayStation 5 consoles with an update this week.
With this software support, the refresh rate of the screen on HDMI 2.1 VRR compatible TVs and PC monitors is dynamically synchronized with the graphics output of the PS5 console. This minimizes or eliminates visual problems such as frame rate issues and screen tearing, improving visual performance for PS5 games.
With VRR, graphics will look clearer because in-game scenes are rendered flawlessly. In addition, the game will become more fluid in many PS5 games as input latency is reduced.
The VRR feature will be optional. If you experience unexpected visual effects or errors, you can turn this feature off at any time.
In the coming weeks, ps5 versions of the following games will have VRR support. Here are the games:
