AT&T, warnermedia’s parent company, has agreed to merge WarnerMedia and Discovery in a massive $43 billion deal to compete with streaming platforms such as Netflix and Disney+; As a result of this merger, parts of the game publisher Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment will be sold. There is no clear information or explanation for this sale yet, but of course there are some rumors swirling around.
For some time now, there have been reports that NetherRealm and TT Games are among these studios. WBIE said in an official statement that the two names, one of Warner Bros.’s best-known studios, were not for sale. The Xbox Two Podcast said it had seen documents showing that neither studio was part of Warner’s future operations, and that both were expecting potential buyers. That statement also contradicts the claim.
A Warner Bros spokesperson says “I can confirm that NetherRealm Studios and TT Games will remain part of Warner Bros Games and are involved in the Warner Media Discovery merger.”
In addition to NetherRealm and TT Games, WBIE also has successful studios such as Monolith, Avalanche, Rocksteady and Playdemic.
