The scenarios in which time rewinds and life turns into a nightmare are being thoroughly used by the gaming world, if you notice. One of the best examples of this recently was Returnal, developed exclusively for PS5, if you ask me. Arkane’s project Deathloop, in which I vow to play blindfolded whatever job he signs, is the latest example of this.
Deathloop has been a thrill since it was first announced, naturally, every video we’ve seen heralds the arrival of a child born from Dishonored and Prey’s marriage. This kid, who was exclusive to the PS5 for a year on the console side, seemed to have difficulty delivering original content for me at first, but with the scraps of information that the company tickled, these concerns were thrown into space.

It doesn’t matter what you think, by the way, it’s not what you think it is. He seems to have done a very different job with his own dynamics behind him. Don’t mind me making such open-ended statements, I’ll lay the groundwork soon.
What is Deathloop? It’s a game in the name where we cheat death, we rewind the day. I have to be as stingy as your grandparents, who have forgotten their urge to pay even if you swallow your hand during the holidays, so let’s not bother Arkane Lyon for no reason. We have the right to look at the whole game, to go around the game and pretend to be tourists who have taken the City Sightseeing buses, of course. Come on then; Let’s see what Deathloop is, who’s the best and the worst.
Spoiler-free story
There was a phenomenon in the 1960s on Blackreef Island, where the game took place, and it happens again and again on the same day. Those who fall into this cycle are somehow very satisfied with the situation and have set up a protective team called Visionaries to ensure that this system lasts a lifetime.
The colt’s main target is to kill eight Visionaries in 24 hours. Now it’s not as simple as it sounds. The day is divided into four parts on the island. Colt collects scraps of information while performing tasks sequentily. For this, he entrusts you with the open map. Don’t think that kind of information is going to fall into your lap. Please dig around before you reach the mission point, so I don’t lose sight of it.
Even a small note you’ll find may be hiding very important information about your next enemy. Anyway, all the information you collect at the end of the mission is collected on a screen and colt wakes up with all this information even if he dies. As Arkane points out, it’s not like we’re going to be able to Deathloop is a murder puzzle, an Agatha Christie novel.
Gameplay
Deathloop is a divided game. When you get to the end of the mission, the game breaks, showing you all the information and tips you’ve gathered. After that, you come across the inventory system. Here you can organize the weapons the Colt will carry and organize your extra skills. Not if we don’t talk about special forces where Arkane is, can we? The company has also demonstrated its talents in Deathloop. There are special Slabs from every Visionary you kill. These are similar to the capabilities in Dishonored, giving you unique powers such as teleporting, short-term invisibility, launching enemies with kinetic force.
And then there’s the Trinkets. These special items, which you can find when you thoroughly search the permeables or kill standard enemies, add extra capabilities to your weapons and make it very colorful if you’re a fan who likes to dive into the action.
Now to Julianna, late, but also power, because this woman is a pain in the ass. This woman, who we can call the worst of the game, is trying to hunt us down. He’ll have thought that an enemy who’s always after us with AI won’t surprise the player enough at some point, so he’s got the game online. If you play online, a unfamiliar player may come after you as Julianna, or you can try to weed the Colt with this character. We haven’t had a chance to test this mode yet, that part’s in the magazine now.
Short thoughts
Let’s get to the end. Deathloop is obviously going to be a game that meets our hopes. Freeing us as much as possible fits the game’s “murder puzzle” spirit, but it can also squeeze into its own leg from time to time, leaving you with a lot of question marks. It’s easy to miss the little scraps of information, but they’re also very important in the game. I hope this doesn’t turn out to be a big problem in the full version. Apart from this, everything from game dynamics to visuals, voiceovers to atmosphere is in place. Is one of the biggest games of the year coming up?
