Bethesda’s long-developed Starfield game was first announced as multiplatform, but the company’s acquisition by Microsoft announced that it would be exclusive to Xbox Series X/S models on the console side. Although microsoft, which was unable to intervene in games such as Deathloop due to special agreements, naturally had a say in the games of a company that it paid for and received, and made such a decision. Obviously, I have to say that personally this is perfectly normal, but it is also a sad situation for Playstation users. Explaining this state of the game, Todd Howard stated that this situation is perfectly normal and explained that “business is business”.
Starfield will be released on November 11, 2022
In an interview with The Telegraph, Todd Howard said of the playstation platform being left behind:
“You don’t want to leave people out, do you? But at the end of the day you focus on the job and say ‘this is the game I want to make, these are the platforms I want to do on it and I really need to do it in the best way I can’. By focusing on these platforms, you strive to do the best you can for these systems. As a result, we have great faith in all these ways that Xbox and Microsoft are doing to bring games to more people.”
Hoawrd explained that in fact, it’s a job and they have to act this way now. He also noted that starfield will be easier to reach a much larger audience because of microsoft’s stronger reach in the cloud system and PC platform. Starfield will be released for PC and Xbox Series X/S on November 11, 2022 and will be added to the Game Pass system as it comes out.
