In 2022, it’s time for another favorite genre of horror games. When you think of a horror game, I know that most of you immediately think of action-packed games that are played from a first or third-person perspective. I’ll tell you what, they’re the first ones that come to mind, 🙂 But when we go outside the classic genres, there are games that aim to give you a sense of fear, and you will see that I have included one of them on the list. I just wanted to break down a little mold.

Scorn
Scorn is literally a game we’ve been waiting for for years. Ebb Software ran a failed Kickstarter campaign in 2014, then brought the project back to its feet with the support of a private investor. Inspired by the work of Alien;’s designer H.R. Giger, Scorn will feature an FPS game featuring puzzles and action elements. The game, which will tell the story mostly through environmental designs, will not be a typical FPS, and many of the creatures we will encounter in the game will not try to harm us. We will now see how these and similar mechanics are processed when the game comes out in October.
Dead Space
Dead Space is the first name that comes to mind when it comes to fear in space. Thirteen years after its release, we will still have a Remake version of this game, which is still shown with a finger, and we will once again embark on an unforgettable adventure with Isaac Clarke. The story theme will be tarkovsky’s famous sci-fi film Solaris; dead space; and the usg ishimura, which has been invaded by an alien species called Necromorph. As a small anecdote, I would add that the name Isaac Clarke was created by combining the names of Isaac Asimov and Arthur C. Clarke, the fathers of science fiction literature. Let’s get ready to beat up all sorts of necromorphs and bosses again.

Incantamentum
I actually said this before when I was talking about Last Door, especially in 2D pixelated games, I have great respect for works that can create a sense of fear. Fear doesn’t necessarily mean seeing a creature come across in an instant and jumping in our place, but there are also a lot of classic adventure games that can give us a similar sense of uncannyness. The Incantamentum is a game that’s been on my radar for a long time. Accompanied by an eerie atmosphere, he will follow in the footsteps of films such as Incantamentum, Midsommar or The Witch, which will uncomfortably tell his story based on English folklore. You know how they say, “We don’t like strangers,” and they’re not going to like us in this game.

The Outlast Trials
One of the most successful horror game series of all time is undoubtedly Outlast. Although it’s not a game from the main series, The Outlast Trials will try to present the horror that the main series games feel to our marrow, this time in a co-op experience. You know how well Red Barrels does it, The Outlast Trials; if we come across some disgusting, squeaky scenes, we’re going to be sitting around with our friend next to us.

The Callisto Protocol
Imagine a game where you’ve heard your name for the first time in a trailer and that trailer will ruffle feathers. The Callisto Protocol is not a game to be taken for granted because it is described as: “Story-based, one-man, survival horror game. One of the creators of Dead Space.” Look, this second part is very important, and just when we were talking about how successful Dead Space was in terms of horror, it was delicious news to learn that glen schofield, one of the creators of the series, was working on a one-man story game again. Set in pubg: Battlegrounds universe, we’ll go back to 2320 to a prison colony called Black Iron in Jupiter;in-bear Callisto; and find ourselves in the middle of a creature infestation.
