Tiger Uppercut!
Sagat, the Thai martial artist who has appeared in almost all of the Street Fighter games that have appeared over 30 so far, and who we can call the boss of the first game, is called the Muaythai emperor in his country.
Those who read our article will remember that our main character Ryu participated in a tournament held around the world. The famous scar on the chest of Sagat, who was surprisingly defeated in the tournament, was also formed here. This event is even featured in the opening scene of the animated film Street Fighter II: The Animated Movie. The aforementioned scar is the focus of Sagat’s hatred of Ryu. Eventually, as a result of this hatred, he becomes one of the 4 bosses in the second game.
Sagat and Adon
Sagat is as much a trainer as he is a fighter. He made Adon, whom we know from later games, a Muaythai master like himself. But Adon’s desire is to take the place of his teacher rather than a master fighter.
His arrogance will cast a shadow on the purity of these teachings; When the day comes, he will humiliate his teacher by saying, “I respected you very much, but now you are a tiger without teeth!”
How Did the Scar on Sagat;s Eye Occur?
Sagat has many enemies. Something he did in the past is the reason for both a story of revenge and the loss of one eye. Go Hibiki, the father of the character named Dan Hibiki, whom we also know in the sequels, had an encounter with Sagat years ago. Although the sources say that Sagat lost his eye because of a mistaken move by Go, Sagat could not stand the pain and killed his opponent on the spot. The moment our friend recovers a little, he notices a little boy crying next to Go. This is none other than Dan Hibiki, who years later would want to avenge his father’s death.
But the master fighter must have figured this out early on, so he turns to the little boy and says, “If you seek revenge, I’ll be waiting here!”
Street Fighter Movie (1994)
Street Fighter movie, which wrote its name in gold letters in history as the best adaptation (!) of the game world.
On December 23, 1994, the role of Sagat in the film Street Fighter was played by Native American actor Wes StudÃ. Since the film has little to do with Street Fighter, we see that Sagat is an arms smuggler rather than a Muaythai emperor. In fact, as far as we see in the games, the eye patch in Sagat’s right eye is in his left eye in this film.
Finale
In short, Sagat, who is one of the biggest fighters in the series with his 2.24 centimeters long length and 130 kilograms weight, is one of the most enjoyable characters to play in the game.
