Think of a boss; extremely difficult to reach, hidden behind secrets. It’s completely optional, but it’s also the hardest boss in Lands Between. He is such a boss that it is a reason to boast to survive the fight with him. Yes, Malenia, I’m talking about you. Split Malenia. Malenia, the Sword of Miquella…
Malania is the daughter of Queen Marika and her second husband, Radagon, a Lord of the Hand. He also has a twin brother named Miquella. If you’re following Elden Ring lore, I’m sure you’re confused at this point. Because Radagon and Marika are actually the same person; or rather, two parts of the same god. As such, both Malenia and Miquella, who are from such a union, are cursed from birth. Malania contracted Scarlet Rot and lost many of her limbs and even her eyes to the disease that ate her from the inside. Miquella, on the other hand, never grew up, was always a child. Because these twin brothers were so attached to each other, Malenia vowed to be her brother’s protector and Sword.
Miquella is actually trying very hard to find a cure for the curse they were born into, but all she can do is make a sack out of gold. At least thanks to this, they manage to keep the Rot surrounding Malania under control.
Malenia says, “…and I haven’t tasted defeat,” and she’s so right. After the dismemberment, he receives a piece of the ring, and in the battles with the demigods, he wins numerous battles, including Godrick the Grafted, leaving only two demigods: Malenia and her half-brother Radahn.
Facing off in Caelid, the two engage in a formidable duel, and Radahn is an incredibly powerful demigod. Unable to defeat Radahn with the power of his sword alone, he releases his inner Scarlet Rot and Caelid lands burn. Scarlet eats away at Rot Radahn, Radahn loses his mind and begins to wander unconscious on the battlefield, eating whatever friend and foe see. That’s his eternal curse, too.
This incident eventually brings Malenia, who is in a coma, to her knight Haligtree, named Finlay. Scarlet Rot, which flows from Malenia while she is asleep, begins to poison Haligtree. You know, those troublemakers, beetle-like creatures with a lot of arms. These creatures, called Kindred of Rot, were actually born from Malenia. These creatures worship Malania as a goddess and hope that she will wake up from her slumber and blossom and start the Age of Decay.
Malenia does indeed awaken, but it is a Tarnished who discovers her path to Haligtree’s roots. So we: the one who gave Malania her first taste of real defeat. Malenia refuses to accept defeat and reappears once again, leaving herself completely in the arms of Scarlet Rot. Then his last words echo in the ears…
My dear Miquella, my brother…
I am sad.. I finally met my equal…
Injured Gazelle Malenia’s body, which has been living with the scourge of Scarlet Rot since birth, is severely deformed and weakened. He also has numerous wounds due to his participation in numerous battles. Malenia has three prosthetics on her body: her right arm, her left leg, and her right foot. We know that she lost some of her limbs because of Scarlet Rot, but it is thought that she may have taken some of her losses during battles where she did not face defeat. Yet despite all this, she still has a unique beauty. |
