Square Enix announced FF7’s highly anticipated remake, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, in June. The game, which was shown in the special presentation held in honor of the 25th anniversary of the first game, excited the fans of the series. However, contrary to the recent trend of the gaming industry, the new game will be released exclusively for the PlayStation 5 console. The reason has become clear these days.
Why will Final Fantasy VII Rebirth only be available on PS5?
An interview with Yoshinori Kitase, the producer of the Final Fantasy VII series, gives the answer to this question quite clearly. “After escaping from Midgar, the stress of loading is an extreme bottleneck, as the adventure takes place in a vast world. “We felt we needed PlayStation 5 features to get through this and travel the world in comfort.” This directly explains why the PS5’s high-speed SSD has become more than a necessity for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth.
Later in the interview, Kitase says that the locations of the players in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will be different from the original game. “While you may find that it has changed when you visit some places, our policy is not to cut (restrict) (restrict) essentially anything,” he explains. It seems that we will be able to visit old places like Costa Del Sol.
