Good things haven’t been happening at CD Projekt RED lately. Witcher 3 director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz has left the company following a recent internal “workplace bullying investigation.” The strange thing is that Konrad resigned despite being cleared in the investigation.
Witcher 3 director resigns from CD Projekt RED
Konrad Tomaszkiewicz said that despite being cleared of the investigation, he resigned and “apologized for all the resentment he caused.” Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, who directed Witcher 3 and was the second director and production chairman at Cyberpunk 2077, resigned from CD Projekt RED in this way. Bloombergreported that Konrad is the subject of a lengthy internal investigation based on accusations of bullying. A commission of inquiry found him not guilty, while Tomaszkiewicz still chose to resign from his job.
In an email to the CD Projekt RED team, the Witcher 3 director wrote that despite being exonerated, “many people feel fear, stress or discomfort working with me.” He left apologising for any inconsistencies he caused and said he planned to work to change his behavior.
Konrad Tomaszkiewicz had been working at CD Projekt RED for a long time, and his work dates back to the story design of the first Witcher game, released in 2007. He worked as chief duty designer on The Witcher 2 before taking on the director’s role for The Witcher 3 and its expansions Hearts of Stone and Blood & Wine. In 2077, Cyberpunk first received the title of design director and later moved to the position of vice president of game development at CD Projekt RED. This makes him an important figure for the company and increases the importance of his loss.
Tomaszkiewicz’s resignation comes a month after Cyberpunk 2077’s chief game designer Andrzej Zawadzki left the company. Following the release of Cyberpunk, CD Projekt RED has not only been dragged into a really challenging process, but continues to lose important employees.
