Wargaming announced two months ago that World of Tanks would be coming to Steam, but used the phrase “later this year” as its release date. Surprisingly, however, there was no need to wait until the end of the year, and World of Tanks finally took its place on Steam years later.
Those who have the regular PC version of the game and those who purchase it on Steam will be able to play the matches together. The Steam version will only be available on new accounts, but will have all the features in the regular version of World of Tanks. The reason old accounts can’t be used in the Steam version is because they developed World of Tanks at the time to be played only on a single PC platform, which created a mismatch. Nevertheless, Steam will be a much more attractive platform, especially for new players.
World of Tanks has won 4 Golden Joystick awards to date and is also in the Guinness Book of World Records for the number of players connected to a DVO server at the same time (190,541 people). The Steam page of World of Tanks can be found here. The game is free to play, so you can download it directly.
