2K Games officially announced WWE 2K22 in a statement. In recent weeks, the company announced the future of the game with a short teaser video and made the original announcement with the first information and gameplay video. It was also announced that WWE 2K22, which will be the cover of Rey Mysterio, one of the first names that comes to mind today when it comes to American Wrestling, will be released on March 11, 2022.

Rey Mysterio,who will grace the cover of the game, said, “It’s a great honor for me to represent lucha libre culture as the Superstar cover of WWE 2K22. I look forward to sharing the stories behind the highlights of my career with a dedicated community of players and connecting with WWE fans in a whole new way while playing in my 2K Showcase.”
2K Games also announced versions of the new game. The game will be a version of nWo 4-Life with a price tag of $120 featuring Eric Bischoff as a different outfit and playable character. The versions of the game are as follows;
WWE 2K22 Editions:
- Standard Edition ($60 on previous generation consoles – $70 on PS4, XB1, PC and current generation): It will be sold both physically and digitally.
- Cross-Gen Bundle ($80): Includes standard version and Starrcade ’96 Rey Mysterio Pack, includes previous generation console version except current generation.
- Deluxe Edition ($100): Standard edition includes Undertaker Immortal Pack (includes three Taker contacts, Evo card and taker-related additional content), one-season pass for all five DLC packs after launch, MyRise Mega-Boost and SuperCharger Packs, WWE Supercard content (physical copies only).
- nWo 4-Life Edition ($120): Includes content from Standard and Deluxe Editions, MyFaction EVO cards, alternative nWo outfits for Hollywood Hogan, Scott Hall, Kevin Nash and Syxx. Eric Bischoff is playable. WCW Souled Out 1997, Bash at the Beach 1996 and nWo Wolfpac Championship.
