Microsoft announced on June 30 that it will release the Xbox app for Samsung Smart TVs, including the Neo QLED 8K, Neo QLED 4K, QLEDs, and Smart Monitor Series. Users will thus be able to access Xbox games without a console.
Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers will have access to more than 100 games through the cloud. In addition, users who do not have a Game Pass Ultimate subscription will be able to play Fornite for free.
Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer said of the app in a press release: “We’re working to bring the gaming experience to everyone in the world. Bringing the Xbox app to smart TVs is another step towards making our vision a reality. That’s why we’re excited to partner with Samsung, the world leader in the ‘TV’ industry, to bring Xbox to more gamers. Working with Samsung has helped us gain greater access to games and allowed us to add new players to our thriving community.”
