Itch.io is a digital sales market that also attracts attention with its social responsibility campaigns. If you recall, they offered a “Bundle for Racial Justice and Equality” package at the same time as the recent anti-racism demonstrations in the U.S. and gave away more than 1,300 votes for as many as $5. This campaign generated over $5 million in revenue.
Itch.io has now introduced a new collection of almost 1,000 games. This pack is called Bundle for Ukraine, this time with a minimum donation amount of $10, and in return you get 991 votes.
Notable names in the package include Wandersong, Celeste, Baba Is You, Superhot, Towerfall Ascension, CrossCode, Gonner.
According to the site, about 600 of these 1,000 games have never been given as part of a large package before, so if you have packages you’ve received before, you’ll have hundreds of games that they don’t have. In addition, there are no “free games” in the package. All proceeds from the package will be split between the International Medical Association (which provides medical assistance to the region) and Voice of Children (a Ukraine-based organization set up to help children deal with problems such as fear of war and traumatic behavioral disorder).
The package’s target donation is $1 million, already exceeding $400,000. The campaign also includes a note that says “we’d like you to donate more if you can,” but even $10 is already a big enough amount for us 🙂
